Contoured Dining

I design and produce slip cast tableware for the fusion food market. These forms have been inspired and informed by different cultural traditions and contexts for dining. I use digital modelling to produce the designs which are then fabricated through CNC milling, 3D printing these models are then cast using traditional slipcasting techniques. The final outcomes explore the relationship between material and digital design, creating bespoke forms as an abstract idea of modern tableware providing function with an unmistakable digital aesthetic.

My work captures a level of tactility with both the cutlery and the vessels being designed for comfort when they are handled. The long slender cutlery speak of the elegance on the chop-stick.

The full design collection focuses on the Interaction of glazed ceramics and cast metal holders, consisting of a collection of matching bowls, plates and side plates complemented by salt and pepper shakes that all capture details of the digital making process on its surface.
